Here are two fun facts about slate.
Did you know certain varieties of the metamorphic rock are actually used in wild turkey lures? Turns out striking slate at the right angle produces a noise remarkably similar to the call of several wild turkeys, providing hunters with a cheap and efficient way to summon wayward gobblers.

The second fact is about Slate with a capital ‘S’, although it also involves using a big rock in an elaborate partnership ritual. Jenny Slate, the comedian and actor known for her turns on Parks And Recreation and Big Mouth, is now engaged to curator Ben Shattuck.
Taking to Instagram today, Slate said old mate took her to France and chucked a picnic to ask the question. The answer was yes, obviously, as evidenced by a shot of her flaunting the ring:

“In an abandoned castle in southern France, I asked this woman to marry me. Here she is in front of a door the color of her soul,” Shattuck wrote on his own post.
The pair has been dating for the better part of a year, and attended Sundance Film Festival together in January.
The engagement comes eighteen months after Slate split with former partner Chris Evans, with whom she shared an on-and-off relationship between 2016 and 2018.
