So far, the yet-to-be-titled film boasts the talents of Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, the fabulous Sir Ian McKellen, and UK comedian and Late Night host, James Corden.

But that’s not all because Tom Hooper – director of the multi-Academy Award winning The King’s Speech is set to helm the film. Hooper also smashed it out of the park with Les Misérables, yet another film that received multiple Oscar nods at the 2013 Academy Awards and was awarded the 2013 Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture in a musical or comedy.

Combine this with that cast and lots and lots of awards are to be expected.

Per Deadlinethe musical has been adapted by Lee Hall – the screenwriter from bloody Billy Elliot.

The Oscar’s just a given now.

It’s extremely early days but shooting is due to begin in November and additional casting is currently taking place.

If you’re unfamiliar with Cats, this is a musical about a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and one fateful night known as ~ the Jellicle Choice ~. The tribe is lead by patriarch Old Deuteronomy who chooses which cat goes to the Heaviside Layer, each year to be reborn into a new Jellicle life.

Lloyd Webber based the musical on T.S Eliot’s book, Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.

According to reports, Academy-Award winner Hudson will step into the role of Grizabella, the character who sings the again, award-winning song Memory.

Writers Lloyd Webber and Trevor Nunn won the 1981 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically… and look fair enough.

Keen, extremely keen.
