WAIT WHAT: Is Jaime Lannister Still Alive On ‘Game Of Thrones’?

There’s a billion Game Of Thrones theories going around the internet as we wait for the final episode EVER to tie things up with our favourite gang of Westerosians. Some are ridiculous, some are pretty damn obvious – and then some seem ridiculous but as you read on, become quite convincing. Like this theory, that Jaime Lannister is… still alive.

To recap, the last time we saw Jaime Lannister he was clutching his sister-slash-lover Cersei Lannister as the Red Keep started collapsing around them. It certainly looked like there was no way the siblings would survive, and fans assumed this was the way things ended for Cersei and Jaime.

That is, until this theory – from Tumblr user WeedsAreFlowersToo – surfaced.

Her theory begins with the fact that, while other actors from the show whose characters have perished are being given shout-outs on colleagues’ social media pages, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau hasn’t copped a mention.

“Why isn’t ANYONE acknowledging that Jaime Lannister just died??? Why is nobody in the cast thanking Nik for his performance? Why did Pilou (Euron Greyjoy) and Lena’s (Cersei Lannister) insta post not say anything about Jaime dying? Why isn’t Nik saying anything about what he thinks of the scene? Why did he make a post saying goodbye to Lena, and not to the character he played for 8 years? Why is there no talk of Jaime’s death in the game revealed?”

It’s a fair point – if Jaime’s dead and his last scenes were shown on Monday, wouldn’t the cast (and Nikolaj) be toasting to that character? It’s not like he was playing a bit-part.

The next bit of “evidence” is based around reporter James Hibberd, who has been doing exit interviews with actors in Entertainment Weekly. He had Lena Headey, who plays Cersei, and Rory McCann, the guy behind The Hound. But… no Jaime. When asked about it…

HOLDING ONTO IT FOR A BIT, EH? Maybe… because Jaime isn’t dead and is going to have a big moment in the final episode?

Look, as with all theories we can’t be sure of anything. Jaime and Cersei dying together was a pretty decent way for the characters to go out, their character arcs came to a satisfying end and with just one episode to go and a LOT to process (a Mad Queen! Jon taking or not taking the throne! A shitload of other definitely-alive characters who need their storylines tied off!) I can’t even think about how they’d weave Jaime Lannister into the mix.

Maybe he makes it out of the rubble and takes out Dany himself. Maybe he comes to the aid of Tyrion who is almost definitely gonna get done for treason after his little freeing-Jaime caper. Or maybe the Kingslayer is simply… deady dead dead dead.
