Flightless Avian Pervert Howard The Duck Is Getting His Own TV Show

Through no fault of his creator, I hate Howard the Duck with my life. Like most people who hate this wretched, horny alien bird, I hate him because of 1986’s Howard the Duck. There are a few reasons it sucks, the primary one being the tone. Here is how writer Steve Gerber described the comics:

‘This is no joke!’ There it is. The cosmic giggle. The funniest gag in the universe. That life’s most serious moments and most incredibly dumb moments are often distinguishable only by a momentary point of view. Anyone who doesn’t believe this probably cannot enjoy reading Howard the Duck.

Here is how screenwriter Gloria Katz described the movie:

It’s a film about a duck from outer space… It’s not supposed to be an existential experience.

A slight disparity, you might agree. One of the other reasons this movie is so hideously burned into my brain is: duck tits.

I am so, so sorry for showing you this image:

Pictured: Again, sorry.

Despite how I personally would like to see this foul creature removed from the face of the Earth entirely, Howard the Duck has lived on, with Marvel reintroducing him with a cameo Guardians of the Galaxy, released one day shy of exactly 28 years after the release of the original film. He appeared again in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and now that feathery bastard is getting his own TV show.

According to a report from Variety, the new show will be coming as a part of a release of four animated series being created by Marvel and Hulu. In addition to the Howard the Duck series, viewers will be treated to one for simian assassin Hit-Monkey, one focusing on superheroes Tigra and Dazzler, and one centred on big evil head MODOK.

The Howard the Duck series has been announced with big-time comics nerd Kevin Smith and Adult Swim veteran Dave Willis as creators, with both writing and executive producing the series.

No date has yet been given for its release.
