US network Comedy Central has announced a replacement for The Colbert Report when Stephen Colbert moves on to the Late Show next year: The Daily Show‘s excellently funny Larry Wilmore.
Wilmore joined The Daily Show as “senior black correspondent” shortly after Colbert left, in 2006, and will cop his half-hour 11:30pm slot.
In a neat reference to his predecessor, the show will be called “The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore”. Wilmore will relocate from LA to New York for the show, and made a big promise straight off the bat: “I love the city of New York and promise to only wear my Laker t-shirts when I’m layering.” That’s commitment.
The Minority Report will premiere January 2015.
