HELL YEAH: Wil Anderson Is Returning To Radio After Almost A Decade

Hell yeah, baby. After almost a decade, funnyman Wil Anderson is returning to radio.

He’s joining Triple M‘s breakfast team, talking straight into your earholes every morning alongside Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy. Upside: Wil Anderson, everyday. Downside: Eddie McGuire , also everyday.

He’s replacing Mick Molloy, who after suffering the endless early mornings that breakfast radio requires, is scooting off to Triple M national drive.

In a statement, Anderson said he’s a huge fan of the show. “It’s been my lifeline to Melbourne as I have toured the world doing stand-up. I’m guessing I’ve probably heard more of it than Mick has. It’s a show that gives you the news, and makes the news, all with a laugh. So many times I have thought I would love to be part of that conversation, and now I’m rapt that I get to, waking up with my favourite city in the world. And I’m even more excited because of the genius of Mick Molloy, I don’t have to get in until 7am!”.

Obviously radio was Wil’s starting point into comedy (hosting Triple J mornings alongside Adam Spencer), but over the years he’s been better known for his sold out comedy circuits and hosting (and executive producing) The Gruen Transfer on ABC.

In fact, it’s been so long since he did radio, we had to look up via Wikipedia the last time it happened. Turns out it was 2008, hosting a short-lived afternoon drive-time show on Triple M with Tony Lehmann.

Thank you, Wikipedia references, lifesavers of students worldwide.

The point is, it’s been almost a decade since Wil Anderson last cropped up on radio, and we’re pretty damn stoked to have him back.
