The Gossip Girl Reboot Revealed The Names And Pics Of Its New Characters And I’m INTRIGUED

Gossip Girl

The long-awaited Gossip Girl reboot is set to debut later this year, with an initial run of ten episodes following an all new generation of privileged teen nightmares around Manhattan. Per the official plot description of the rebooted series:

“Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years.”

The premiere date has yet to be confirmed, but earlier this week, the official Gossip Girl social media accounts gave us a tasty little surprise, unveiling photos of all the key characters, along with their names and one-word descriptions of what would seem to be their defining traits.

We already knew that Emily Alyn Lind would portray a character known as Audrey, but now we have numerous other fancy private school names to ponder, like Otto “Obie” Bergmann (privilege), Monet de Haan (power) and Julien Calloway (influence).

Of the decision to base the show on an all new group of teens in an all new, social media-centric environment, the show’s creator Josh Schwartz said:

“We felt there was something interesting that we are all “gossip girl” in our own way and how that’s evolved, morphed and mutated and telling that story through a new generation of Upper East Side high school kids felt right.”

Original star Leighton Meester said that she may not actually watch the reboot, but will consider appearing in it if anyone asks, with “never say never” as her official position on the matter. I guess we’ll see when the show debuts later this year!
