As Moira Rose of Schitt’s Creek famously said, the greatest season is awards season and it’s kicking off today with the almighty Golden Globes.
But before they start handing out awards, let’s honour Golden Globes history by perusing a list of iconique yarns involving celebs getting shitfaced at the ceremony.

Matt Damon and Elizabeth Hurley
Apparently back at the 1998 Golden Globes, when he was just starting out as an actor, Matt Damon was spotted “drunkenly flirting” backstage with Elizabeth Hurley who, according to the mag, had “also had a few.”
Emma Thompson
The publication reports that the Harry Potter star got so “sloshed” at the 2014 awards that apparently she ended up going “shoeless.”
Cate Blanchett
The Aussie actress once famously told the Telegraph following her Golden Globes win: “Unfortunately my category came up rather late in the evening so I was a couple of sheets to the wind.”
Sofia Vergara
At the 2014 Golden Globes afterparty, Sofia Vergara claimed she was too drunk to take piccies at the HBO post-Globes bash. Look, we’ve all been there.
Jack Nicholson
At the 2003 awards, the actor took out the Globe for About Schmidt. During his acceptance speech, he admitted to having taken a Valium while giving his “incoherent speech,” the publication reports, adding that he “didn’t mention how many champers he had imbibed along with it.”
