First Look: Veronica Mars Kickstarter Movie Trailer Revealed At Comic-Con

Hidden at the 3:07 minute mark in the video below is your first look at the trailblazing Kickstarter-funded Veronica Mars movie, straight from the Hall H panel at San Diego’s Comic-Con convention.

Pitched as film written to reward fans for their dedication to the show, series creator Rob Thomas indicated that the cult revival has a “Godfather III feel to it” and it aims to emulate the So-Cal Nancy Drew appeal of the original, which ran from 2004-2007. The most widely-supported Kickstarter project in history reached its initial $2,000,000 goal within ten hours, and finished funding with 91,585 backers contributing $5,702,153 to create the high-stakes feature film.
The little “ambitious, sprawling, low-budget” movie that could finishes its 23-day shoot on Monday and is expected to hit theatres 2014. If that pays off, continues Thomas, “I hope we make a ton of money and fund [a sequel] through normal channels.”
