‘Finding Dory’ Finally Has Plot

We’ve been waiting 12 years for this, but Finding Dory – the long, looooong awaited sequel to 2003’s Finding Nemo – finally has a plot.

Ellen Degeneres is back on board as the surgeon fish with severe memory problems. After a memory ‘floats’ into her head, she becomes convinced she needs to find her long lost parents.

And get this: her parents are played by Eugene Levey and Diane Keaton. #squadgoals / #familygoals

Remember when Dory said this? And how she has no family? Better ready yourself for a trip aboard the feel train.

New characters to the sequel include a Destiny, a “whale-shark who thinks she’s a whale, but she’s a shark,” (does this mean she won’t be able to understand Dory‘s whale tongue???) and a grumpy octopus called Hank. There’ll also be an as-yet unnamed sea otter, which director Andrew Stanton (who also directed Wall-E) describes as “ridiculously cute”.

If the Finding Dory IMDB page is anything to go by, returning characters from Finding Nemo include Gill (voiced by Willem Dafoe) and Marlin (Albert Brooks). Vicki Lewis, who voices Deb and Flo (Deb’s reflection she thinks is her sister Flo) will also be returning. Ahh, the madness of fish confined to a tank.

There’s also a character called Bailey listed, voiced by Ty Burrell. Potentially this is the unnamed ridiculously cute sea otter? IDK.

So far it doesn’t look like Alexander Gould, who voiced Nemo, will be back for round two. But you know – it has been 12 years. Puberty comes with a side dose of voice breaking, so maybe he can simply no longer play a kid clown fish. Don’t write off the character just yet.

Finding Dory has a release date of 17 June 2016, so just try to occupy yourself with busy work until then.
