Elton John To Host The 2011 ARIAs?

For those of you who actually witnessed the cringe-worthy, shameful and utterly humiliating car crash that was the 2010 ARIA Awards last year, the mere thought of the ‘Music Industry’s Night of Nights’ for 2011 may cause you to break out in hives.

With last year’s ARIAs snagging only 624,000 viewers (a generous amount that we attribute to people’s innate inability to turn away from terrible road accidents and the like) it’s obvious that the organisers of this year’s event need to do something to save the award show’s rock bottom reputation. The good news is: the only way is up. And who better then to bring some real class, star power and bitchy barbs to the night then rumoured host Sir Elton John.

Industry insiders have speculated that the “big blank” (technical media term) in Elton’s upcoming Australian Tour schedule planned for later this year could well account for a ‘Very Important Performance’ – as host of the 25th ARIA awards. Having previously hosted the very first ARIAS night back in 1987 it seems fitting to have him resurrect the event from the ashes of 2010’s messy mix of booze-fueled, stuttering presenters and awkward slip-ups that resembled more an outdoor house party then a glamorous award’s night. It wouldn’t be the first time, right Elton?

By golly we hope this is true because if there’s a repeat of last year we will have to bid farewell to the ARIAS forever.
