If the sentence “Samsonite – I was way off!” means anything to you, you’ll be a little psyched about Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels re-teaming with writing/directing team Peter and Bobby Farrelly to bring the kind-hearted but incredibly stupid duo Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunn to the big screen once more.
Fans of the hugely successful 1994 comedy Dumb And Dumber had their fond memories of the sympathetic morons all but destroyed with the release of an alarmingly unfunny prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd in 2003. But hopefully this wart on the ‘gross out’ comedy genre can be lanced by the pending reunion of the original film’s collaborators.
Peter Farrelly dropped the news in a recent interview, telling ComingSoon.net, “We’re getting set to shoot Dumb and Dumber 2 in September. We’ve got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back.” Farrelly also defended his association with the aforementioned prequel saying, “We did not do Dumb and Dumberer. That was a studio thing. So we’ve always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, ‘We’ve got to do this thing again.’ He had just watched Dumb and Dumber and he said, ‘This is the perfect sequel. Let’s do it.’”
