Oi, Oi, Oi: Drag Race Down Under Fans Have Unofficially Decided On This Szn’s Miss Congeniality

Drag Race Down Under Miss Congeniality

Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under have unofficially decided on this season’s Miss Congeniality after the winner of the title was not revealed in the finale.

*Spoilers for RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under episode 8, duh*

Last night, New Zealand drag queen Kita Mean took home the title of Down Under’s drag superstar, earning herself one year supply of Revolution makeup products, a crown and scepter, and a cash prize of $30,000.

Usually, at a series finale, host RuPaul Charles also announces who the queens chose as Miss Congeniality (or, sometimes, Fan Favourite), AKA the queen that was the kindest and sweetest soul to the other contestants during filming.

But, fans will have noticed that we didn’t get that this year, which has left some of them to go off and choose a Miss Congeniality of their own.

And, their pick? Why none other than fellow Kiwi legend and Kita Mean’s business partner, Anita Wiglit. Did somebody say New Zealand drag excellence?

In a recent update to the RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under page of the Rupaul’s Drag Race wiki, one eager fan has edited in Anita’s name under the Miss Congeniality of the season section, even before Kita was crowned. Taking to Instagram, Anita, who has cheekily updated her Instagram bio to include her unofficial new title, wrote, “Whoever did this, I thank you!!”

Sydney local legend and fellow contestant Maxi Shield, who I reckon would have a decent shot at the official Fan Fave title, agreed, telling PEDESTRIAN.TV: “There wasn’t one… nah, I think Anita [was it] for me.” Fellow Sydney icon Etcetera Etcetera meanwhile said Maxi Shield was their pick. Hey Ru, any chance we can split the Miss C crown ala All-Stars 4?

No? Well, alright then. Good thing, the queens all voted in a PopBuzz YouTube series and a majority of the votes went towards Anita.

“She’s the most aggressively positive person I’ve met in my life,” finalist Art Simone said in the video.

“I’ve known Anita for years. She’s always at level five million and just happy to be everywhere and anywhere.

“She can just be standing in a cemetery and be like, ‘Oh, it’s really nice weather today, AAAH.’”
