Peep The First Trailer For Coming 2 America ‘Coz We All Need A Little Eddie Murphy RN

The first trailer for Amazon’s highly-anticipated Coming To America sequel, Coming 2 America is here and hoo boy, it looks good.

It’s been a long 32 years since the OG Coming To America, directed by John Landis, hit theatres, introducing us to the iconic Prince Akeem, played by none other than the man, the myth, the legend, Eddie Murphy.

Thankfully, Murphy is reprising his role in the sequel, alongside OG co-stars James Earl Jones and Arsenio Hall, who played King Jaffe Joffer and Semmi respectively.

“What I love most is we didn’t lose the main agenda, the humour,” Hall told Complex. “It’s a funny fucking movie, and I’m proud that we hit all those bumps and checked all those boxes. It’s funny—it does everything you need it to do, but it’s also funny, and I think people will love the additions to it. There are some surprises here that will surprise people who don’t get surprised.”

But to give it the ol’ 2021 razzle-dazzle, the OG cast will be joined by the likes of Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Kiki Layne, Shari Headley, Wesley Snipes, John Amos, Teyana Taylor, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Paul Bates, Nomzamo Mbatha and Bella Murphy for a real star-studded affair.

The reboot will be produced by Kevin Misher and Brian Oliver, with David Sheffield, Barry W Blaustein and Kenya Barris to come on as screenwriters.

As for the storyline, the sequel is set to follow Prince Akeem’s journey as his plans to become king of Zamunda are messed up when he finds out about a son he never knew he had. His son, Lavelle, is a street-savvy boy from Queens, New York.

Obviously, out of respect for the former king of Zamunda’s wishes for his grandson to be the crown prince, Akeem and his brother Semmi (Arsenio Hall) once again go on a journey to America.

Honestly, I hate reboots but this is the one I’m actually here for.

The film is set to premiere on Prime Video on March 5, so mark your calendars and get the popcorn ready.

In the mean time, you can peep the trailer below.
