Carrie Fisher Honoured With Posthumous Emmy Nomination For British Comedy

The princess of our childhoods – whether in the original ‘Star Wars‘ trilogy or just giving solid advice on a houseboat in ‘Drop Dead Fred‘ – and the badass General of ‘The Force Awakens‘ and ‘The Last Jedi‘, Carrie Fisher, has scored a posthumous Emmy nom.

The nomination is for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the third season of ‘Catastrophe‘, a British sitcom which aired in the UK earlier this year, and is available on Amazon in the US. Its first two seasons were shown here on the ABC
In ‘Catastrophe‘, Fisher plays the mother of the show’s male star, Rob Delaney, who, in the third season’s final episode, shares with his mother his relapse into alcoholism.
The nomination comes on a pretty special day – yesterday being July 13 – the 75th birthday of Harrison Ford, who she last year copped to having a stoner affair with during the filming of ‘A New Hope‘ back in 1977, when she was 21 and he was 34. Still spicy.

Fisher was nominated for an Emmy in 2011 for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special for the autobiographical show ‘Wishful Drinking; and in 2008 for a guest spot as Liz Lemon‘s idol on ’30 Rock‘.

It’s the only Emmy nod for the ‘Catastrophe‘, which last year scored a writing nom for its first season.
