Bran And Hodor Won’t Be In Game Of Thrones Next Season

In heartbreaking news for anyone four years deep into the most compelling boy and his human transportation unit relationship we’ve ever seen on television (doubly so for anyone who interviewed Kristian Nairn last week but forgot to ask whether he’d be back next season because they were too busy talking about his castmates’ dancing ability), Kristian Nairn has told 7:30 of all places that he and castmate Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran Stark) will be on hiatus for the upcoming fifth season of Game Of Thrones

Here’s the transcript:

MONIQUE SCHAFTER: Fans around the world are hungry for the next series of Game of Thrones, but they’ll have to be patient.

KRISTIAN NAIRN: We’re not actually in Season Five, by the way. We have a season off. We have a year’s hiatus.
MONIQUE SCHAFTER: Really?
KRISTIAN NAIRN: Solely because, I imagine, our storyline is up to the end of the books. … So I get a year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world.
The good news? At least they’re not dead yet.
