Bill Murray Cast In HBO Miniseries

Fuck Yeah Bill Murray has deigned to sign on for a role in a new HBO miniseries based on Elizabeth Strout’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, ‘Olive Kitteridge‘. Frances McDormand will start as the titular character, Olive and will befriend the widower James Kennison, Murray’s character. The series is to be directed by The Kids Are All Right’s Lisa Cholodenko and despite high levels of premature ‘buzz’ is slated for release sometime in 2014. Colour us frothing.

Synopsis: At times stern, at other times patient, at times perceptive, at other times in sad denial, Olive Kitteridge, a retired schoolteacher, deplores the changes in her little town and in the world at large, but she doesn’t always recognize the changes in those around her: a former student who has lost the will to live; Olive’s own adult child, who feels tyrannized by her irrational sensitivities; and her husband, Henry, who finds his loyalty to his marriage both a blessing and a curse. As the townspeople grapple with their problems, mild and dire, Olive is brought to a deeper understanding of herself and her life – sometimes painfully, but always with ruthless honesty.

The series will also star Rosemarie DeWitt, Richard Jenkins, Zoe Kazan and Jesse Plemons. Murray has just wrapped the Ted Melfi directed St. Vincent De Van Nuys, The Monuments Men with George Clooney, Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel and is currently working on ‘Untitled Cameron Crowe Project’ and being Bill Fucking Murray.
