Behold, All The Excellent Winners Of 2016’s Screen Actors Guild Awards

With all the scrutiny placed on the Academy Awards and their supposed representation of the film industry, it’s bloody refreshing to know there are alternative accolades that might pick from a more diverse talent pool. Enter: The 22nd annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, who have by-and-large represented talents outside of this year’s all-white Oscars field.

Idris Elba, the total unit he is, cleaned up tonight by taking awards for leading Luther and his supporting role in Beasts Of No Nation; he also became the first person to ever take home two individual awards at the same ceremony. NBD.

Orange Is The New Black also copped significant shine, while Netflix in general had a bumper night.

Elsewhere, Leonardo DiCaprio’s nod for Best Male Actor in a Leading Role for The Revenant might bode well when the Oscars do roll around, while Brie Larson’s emergence as a legitimate Hollywood force continues with the honour for her work on Room.
