Awkwafina Calls Out Rapper Lil Pump For Using Racial Slurs In New Track

It’s 2018, almost 2019, and yet rappers still think it’s cool to spew out ‘music’ using racial and homophobic slurs and it’ll fly ‘coz it’s ~aRt~.

Nup, fuck that.

I’m pleased to see that not everyone is buying into this old school rap bullshit of dissing minorities to create impactful music. We recently had Troye Sivan call out Eminem for using homophobic language on his recent trash album and now Awkwafina has ripped into Lil Pump for spitting out racist chants on his new song.

The 18-year-old rapper, whose real name is Gazzy Garcia, posted a preview of his new song ‘Butterfly Doors’, on Instagram which sparked immediate outrage over the offensive line, “They call me Yao Ming ’cause my eyes real low.” As if that wasn’t fucked enough, he stretched his eyes with his two pointer fingers and seriously WHAT is wrong with this moron?

After he did it twice, he also rapped, “Ching chong.”

In a since-deleted tweet, the Crazy Rich Asians star wrote: “Always nice to hear a new song with a Ching Chong adlib. Guess it’s better than ‘eyes chink’ like some other verses I’ve heard. But can we at least think of some more creative racist epithets? @lilpump.”

Twitter soon became flooded with angry tweets from fans who took offence to his use of racist language.

Despite the backlash, the Instagram video still exists on his page and he has yet to comment on the backlash.

My take? Put the song (and yourself, if you think using that language is acceptable) directly into the bin.
