Australia, Gaze Upon Your New Bachelor

As Channel Ten‘s long, dedicated efforts to get all the celebrities out of there wind up, with Freddie Flintoff emerging victorious from the mouth of the jungle, chest stained with the blood of his enemies, the non-food based reality hole on our free-to-air TV screens once again opens up, leading to naught but despair for those who worship at that particular altar.

But fear not, my friends! Salvation is at hand! Glorious, perfect bone structured salvation!
Running on the momentum that I’m A Celebrity… generated for the network (some 725,000 thousand people tuned in each week) Ten has lifted the veil on the star of the new season of their runaway smash The Bachelor.
34 year old Sam Wood, an affirmed Tassie boy and personal trainer who now resides in Melbourne, is your official Bachelor for season three. And just look at him, would you!
The bloke known affectionately as “Woody” – *too many jokes to make, not enough time, humour overload* – stated his keenness to embrace the journey through a press release early this morning.

“Being the Bachelor is a real privilege and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I plan on embracing the experience with an open mind, while wearing my heart on my sleeve. I hope to find a woman with whom I share a sense of fun, an undeniable chemistry and a mutual respect. Ultimately I’m searching for the love of my life. I’m going to throw myself into the adventure and I’m prepared to have the absolute time of my life.”

And if that in and of itself isn’t enough to get the ole’ heart a-flutterin’, the guy also happens to be great with kids. Wood started Gecko Kids in 2006, a company that runs health and fitness programs for children that today has expanded to 35 locations around the country.

*SWOOOOOOOOON*

Production of the series is already underway, with Clifton Mansion in Sydney’s Hunters Hill again being used as the base for the show.
The third season of The Bachelor will debut on Channel Ten at some point this year. Gird your loins, ladies and gentlemen.
