With all of the royal wedding fluff happening this weekend, we haven’t left much space for real, hard news stories, but we’ll try to fix that now, with this yarn about how Ariana Grande may or may not have dumped her boyfriend to hook up with Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson.
Grande recently broke up with her boyfriend of two years, Mac Miller – friends said that the two had been “struggling” for a while, and around a week and a half ago, the pair unfollowed each-other on Instagram, which is surely a sign that bad things are going down in a relationship.
Davidson, meanwhile, had been dating Cazzie David, daughter of comedian Larry David. “We’re not together anymore,” he told an interviewer this week. “Very talented girl, she’ll be great and she’ll be fine. Yeah, I think she’ll be okay.” When asked if he’d also be okay, he said “yeah probably.”
The rumour about Grande and Davidson dating originated with gossip site Bossip, who ran a report recently saying that “sources” had confirmed the new relationship to them, but leaving it at that.
There is certainly a well-established precedent for SNL nerds hooking up with famous women – Emma Stone is dating Dave McCary, a director who works on the show, while Scarlett Johansson is going out with Weekend Update anchor Colin Jost.
Nicki Minaj will be the musical guest on this week’s season finale of SNL, and she recently had a bit of a back and forth with Ariana Grande in her Instagram comments, inviting the singer to join her. It will be interesting to see if she rocks up on the show, which should be airing fairly shortly.
Ariana has been in New York since earlier this week, and that’s …not nothing, given that SNL is filmed there, and it’s where Pete Davidson lives?
