Three months after the heartbreaking passing of celebrity and well-respected food lover, travel journalist, and culinary legend Anthony Bourdain, his show Parts Unknown has picked up multiple Emmys in the Creative Arts section of the coveted awards that are announced before the big awards ceremony.

The Creative Arts Emmys honour and celebrate the parts of television and cinema that are a bit too specific for the main event, but are respected just as much as the televised event.
The late food icon’s show which saw him travelling to far-flung regions and is recognised as a humble approach to food and its ability to create a community through the shared experience of eating a meal together picked up the gongs for Outstanding Picture Editing For Nonfiction Programming, Outstanding Short-Form Nonfiction Or Reality Series, Outstanding Informational Series Or Special, Outstanding Sound Editing For Non Fiction Programming, and Outstanding Sound Mixing For Nonfiction Programming.
Bourdain himself was posthumously honoured for his writing of the series, for the Outstanding Writing for Nonfiction Programming category.
The program’s team accepted the awards on Bourdain’s behalf and left a chair vacant for him during their post-ceremony interview.

Parts Unknown was also nominated for a seventh Emmy, for outstanding cinematography for non-fiction programming in the episode where Bourdain visits Laos, meeting locals who fought in the Laotian Civil War (known as the ‘Secret War’) and have been injured or affected by unexploded ordinances (bombs) that were dropped on Laos from the United States some 50-60 years ago.
Last month, CNN confirmed that it will be producing and airing one final season of Parts Unknown, which will feature behind the scenes footage of the creation of the show, and explore how Anthony Bourdain influenced a generation of food and travel lovers to explore the world openly with humility and love.
