An incredibly powerful interview with Bruce Jenner by Diane Sawyer aired in the US overnight, with the former olympian bravely announcing that he identifies as a woman, saying, “By all intents and purposes, I am a woman.” [nb: male pronouns will be used to refer to Bruce Jenner in this piece, as Jenner has not requested female pronouns be used at this stage].
An eight-part reality series documenting Bruce Jenner’s life as a transgender woman has been confirmed by US network E!, with the currently untitled series to begin airing in America on July 26.
The series will be produced by the same production company of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians“, with an E! executive director saying, “This series will present an unfiltered look as Bruce boldly steps into uncharted territory and is true to himself for the first time.”
Jenner’s interview with Diane Sawyer has garnered massive support on social media, as he touched on the perceived impact of his coming out: “It’s going to change the world,” Jenner said, while also saying, “I hope we can save some lives here,” after speaking about murders and suicides of transgender people in the community.
The support from Bruce Jenner’s family online has been unwavering, as some of his children and ex-partners made statements on twitter and instagram:
