The Iconic Will Now Let You Shop Using A ‘Shazam But For Clothes’ Tool

So – you know how we all have a million screenshots on our phone of cute outfits other people were wearing, just in case we ever decided to be fashionable / come into large sums of money?

All of us? Good. Just wanted to check that.

Anyway, The Iconic has just launched a low-key incredible app that will finally put those screenshots (or saved Instagrams) to good use. The ‘Snap to Shop‘ feature is the ‘Shazam but for clothes’ you’ve always wanted, where you feed the app a pic and it spits out all the clothes that most closely resemble it.

It’s the first of its kind in Australia, and tbh, extremely useful when you can’t be bothered to search through some 50,000 products. (And no, that figure is not an exaggeration.)

Of course, it works better with some pics than others. I tried it out with three different pics currently saved in an Instagram folder that I’ve never gotten around to quite easily hunting down and buying.

TEST #1 – CUTE RED TOP FOR PEOPLE WITH ABS

This is a top I’d buy if I stopped eating carbs for three whole weeks.

Here’s what it threw up: mostly cute red tops with a little bit of skin showing. The All About Eve one is probably closest but all up, not a bad haul. (You can also keep scrolling for more options, but I’m not about to bombard you with forty thousands screenshots. The Iconic has a LOT of options, okay?)

TEST #2 – CUTE MATCHING TOP AND BOTTOMS AND ALSO JUST A GREAT VIBE.

I love this outfit. I also might just really like the location / her braids? But also I figured it was great to test it on a pic that was slightly more cluttered.

The results were… not great. I’m clearly not after men’s clothing. Props on the app for showing me a range of prints though, but in light of this I would advise maybe a less distracting photo.

TEST #3 – A VERY NICE SKIRT THAT I CANNOT AFFORD.

Aje is my torture follow brand. I love them, I wish I could float around in their clothes all day, but I absolutely cannot afford a $400 skirt. So with this test, I was really hoping The Iconic would throw up a few similar but significantly cheaper options.

And it did… kinda. Even though it gave me a lot of very similar pics (white top, black skirt), all the products listed were the top, and as far as I could see, there was no way to narrow the search down to ‘skirt’ only.

Hopefully this something a genius computer dude (or ‘developer’, as they’re professionally known) can write in like, ten minutes, and I can go back to cheap skirt hunting.

SO IN CONCLUSION: This app will definitely fuel your online shopping habit, but let’s be real – if you already have The Iconic app downloaded on your phone, then this isn’t exactly a habit you’re looking to break. BRB, going to start feeding in every outfit I’ve ever saved on my phone, stat.
