Justin Hemmes Loves Syd’s Northern Beaches So Much, He Bought The Collaroy

Expanding further into the luxe beach-fronted Northern Beaches of SydneyThe Collaroy is the latest spot on the shore that Justin Hemmes and the Merivale crew have snapped up.

Welcoming The Collaroy into the catalogue of venues, Hemmes said that he’s really proud to be a part of the Northern Beaches.

The Collaroy is in a truly spectacular location, with sweeping views of the ocean and sand literally at its door step. This is a really exciting addition to the group, and one that will beautifully complement what we’re creating at The Newport.

The Collaroy’s vibe seems to be pretty similar to the Coogee Pavilion, right on the beach next to the local surf lifesaving club, so it’ll be interesting to see if the Merivale team will follow a similar aesthetic as their space in Coogee.

The Collaroy is already a pretty family-friendly venue – I mean as if it wouldn’t be ideal for a post-Nippers lunch – so keep an eye on Merivale and see if they stick with catering for the little ones with the Pelican Pavilion.

Hemmes and the team first explored into the northern suburbs with their rejuvenation of The Newport in March 2016, turning the waterside space into a lush and relaxing spot, with multiple food options set out in a community market style layout, ranging from fresh daily seafood to handmade pizzas.

Merivale have also confirmed that the second phase for The Newport – including an indoor restaurant and bar – will open this summer.

Plans for the Collaroy are on their way, so we’ll keep you in the loop on that one.
