Tim Rogers, Matt Preston, John Safran For Men Of Letters

Firsts galore for Michaela McGuire and Marieke Hardy, the tireless polymaths behind Melbourne based literary event Women Of Letters. Last Sunday saw the brainy celebration of letter writing make its inaugural trip to Sydney (it heads to Brisbane in October) and in a boner-inducing announcement made today, McGuire and Hardy have unveiled a stellar all-male lineup for the inaugural Men Of Letters event. For one time only an all-male cast of Australian letter writers, including Master Chef’s Matt Preston, musicians Paul Kelly and Tim Rogers and comedians John Safran and Chas Liccardello, will pen a letter to “The Woman Who Changed My Life”. Awww.

The inaugural Men Of Letters takes place at Melbourne’s Thornbury Theatre at the end of next month. To the lost art of letter writing, aggressive testosterone style…

Says Women of Letters : “On October 31st, co-curators Michaela McGuire and Marieke Hardy will host for the very first time their inaugural all-male Men of Letters, featuring a relatively gasp-inducing range of the country’s finest and most dapper talent. They will go where no man has gone before – into the celebration of the lost art of letter writing.

Singer/songwriter PAUL KELLY, sartorially elegant bandleader DAVE GRANEY, writer/performer JOHN SAFRAN, The Chaser’s CHAS LICCARDELLO, star of stage and screen EDDIE PERFECT, The Gin Club frontman BEN SALTER, Spicks and Specks’ ALAN BROUGH, troubadour TIM ROGERS, political scribe and author BOB ELLIS and last but not least, Australia’s most decadent food critic MATT PRESTON will each be penning and reading a letter to ‘The Woman Who Changed My Life’.”
