Hand-written letters have become a suppressed antiquity in our current society where information is procured, disposed and traded in such a way that the relevance easily becomes lost. A letter is usually an earnest admission, a thoughtful prose gushing with sentiment. Or a last ditch attempt at averting a $60 parking fine. Fortunately John Lennon‘s letters are non-parking fine related.
His once muse and better half, Yoko Ono, has agreed to have the late Beatle’s letters published through Little Brown, with a released date tentatively marked for October 2012. Lennon was a letter-writing fiend in his day; newspapers, organisations, friends and family were all recipients of his work, which often included drawings in the margins.
The book has been edited by Hunter Davis who authored The Beatles.
