Mabo, born Eddie Koiki Sambo on the 29th June 1936, was a hugely important Indigenous land rights campaigner for Australia. His contribution to the landmark decision by the High Court of Australia, in which they overturned terra nullius in 1992, is regarded as one of, if not the most important role played.
But we’re not going to attempt to teach you about Mabo’s amazing legacy; Google has you completely covered.
