New Streaming Service ‘Napflix’ Is Designed To Literally Bore You To Sleep

Sleep is big business – tens of billions of dollars worth, in fact. All around the world businesses are making bank from the fact that we’re too wired up to get a lil’ shut-eye. The sleep apnea device market alone is predicted to be worth $5.3 billion by 2020.

If you’re like one of the thousands of people who need to listen to something to go to sleep – or if you’re like one of the thousands more struggling to sleep at all – then here’s another, free resource to try: Napflix.

Obviously a pun on ‘Netflix’, Naplix is a new service chock full of content designed to bore you to sleep.

Designed by two Spanish advertising executives, Napflix’s content includes things like a fairly tedious lecture on Karl Marx, a simulation of your first ever driving lesson, and a non-stop animation of a cardboard pig walking to jaunty music that I argue is infinitely more likely to send you funking bonkers before the land of nod.

“The idea is to make entertainment boring,” co-founder Victor Gutierrez de Tena told AFP. “It could be the kind of things that remind us of our childhood, like post-lunch classes and TV serials we watched after meals which just went on and on, ones where you wouldn’t lose the plot if you fell asleep.”

The website states that it’s “taking siesta to next level”, but with the medical community telling us year-in, year-out that the glowing-light of technology is screwing up our sleeping patterns, this looks like it might do the exact opposite.

But hey, try anything once – suss out the videos on offer at napflix.tv.
