Yowza, Racing Fans Did Not Enjoy The Feed’s Form Guide To Cup Horses Dying

One thing you generally find about all the hoo ha about online ‘outrage culture’ is that the people who tend to advocate the David Leyonhjelm-esque ‘toughen up’ approach are usually quickest to absolutely lose their minds when their worldview is challenged. Maybe people just like getting mad online. Who knows.

Yesterday, before the race that stops a nation, The Feed published a satirical yarn from former Junkee politics and culture editor Alex McKinnon with the somewhat provocative title of ‘Which Melbourne Cup horse has the best odds of being euthanised?’ It’s a good little yarn which conveys some of the more shocking stats and realities about horse injuries and fatalities in the racing industry.
As you might expect, the response from people who have jockeys as their Twitter avatars was swift and disproportionately angry.

There you have it. The racing industry and associated punters do not like being reminded of horse death. Well, it’s all done for another year, regardless. Ready to ride this train again in 2017.
