Hospitalisation Forces Avicii To Cancel First Future Music Festival Appearances

Fans of snapbacks and an elfin Swedish DJ called Tim living in Brisbane and Perth were dismayed to learn overnight that their favourite Future Music headliner Avicii was forced to cancel his festival appearances in both Brisbane last night and Perth today following hospitalisation for “stomach related issues.” Organisers posted the following statement to their Facebook page late last night:

“It is with deep regret that we inform you of the decision to cancel Avicii’s performances at Future Music Festival in Brisbane and Perth. Avicii went directly to the hospital upon landing in Brisbane for stomach related issues. He has been hospitalised since then. Over the past couple of days we have been monitoring his condition and we have all been optimistic about him being healthy enough to perform.

Unfortunately the doctors are not willing to discharge him at this time which means he will sadly be unable to appear [in Brisbane]or at tomorrow’s festival [in Perth].

Avicii will continue to rest throughout this week and looks forward to playing the remaining shows next weekend…

We appreciate your understanding and our thoughts are with Avicii who is of course extremely disappointed that he is unable to perform this weekend.”

In related news, Avicii made $7 million last year, so that’s neat.

Future Music Festival arrives in Perth today, followed by a sold-out turn in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide next week.
