Welp. Victoria has recorded 11 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases in the state up to 94.
The Victorian Department of Health relayed the fairly grim and definitely anxiety-inducing figure in this morning’s data release, with the 11 cases coming on the back of 24,265 test results.

Two of those 11 cases were confirmed by Government officials yesterday, with both being recorded at the Arcane aged care facility in Maidstone. They consist of a 79-year-old resident, and a registered nurse who last worked at the facility on Saturday.
The source of the remaining 9 cases has not been disclosed at this time, with Acting Premier James Merlino expected to provide an update as part of Victoria’s daily press conferences later this morning.
Some 200 close contacts linked to a construction site in the CBD were yesterday being tested as a matter of urgency, after the Probuild site at 100 Queen St was added to the list of coronavirus exposure sites. Anyone who attended the site from Sunday May 30th to Friday June 6th between the hours of 7am and 4pm each day must get tested immediately and self-isolate for a full 14-day quarantine period.
A number of Metro train services on the Upfield line were also added to the list of exposure sites late yesterday, with the exposure windows covering Wednesday June 2nd through Friday June 4th. The exposure windows stretch from Melbourne Central Station to Merlynston Station. The site is rated a Tier 2 exposure, meaning anyone affected must get tested and isolate until receiving a negative result.

At this stage, Melbourne is still due to come out of lockdown late on Thursday night. However it remains to be seen how, or if, today’s numbers affect that.
