Black Mirror: Bandersnatch has descended upon Netflix, and with it, an incredible way to enjoy film. Bandersnatch is not just your average flick, it’s an interactive movie allowing you to build your own story all from the comfort of your living room/bed.

How does it work? A tutorial right at the beginning of the film informs you of the numerous decisions you’ll have to face throughout the film. Each decision has two choices and you’ll have to choose one within seconds… so be prepared.
If you’ve heard of the PS4 game Detroit: Become Human, it’s like that.
A visual:
Netflix says one playthrough is supposedly 90 minutes but there’s a mammoth 312 minutes of content – all possible pathways and endings because of course, there isn’t just one end result to the story… and not all of them are satisfying.
The official synopsis reads:
In 1984, a young programmer begins to question reality as he adapts a dark fantasy novel into a video game. A mind-bending tale with multiple endings.
Fionn Whitehead leads the cast as Stefan Butler along with Asim Chaudhry as Mohan Tucker, and eyebrow man Will Poulter as Colin Ritman. Craig Parkinson and Alice Lowe co-star.
Already, fans have flooded Twitter with their mini reviews of the film and if they’re anything to go by, people froth it.
Bandersnatch – 1h 30m? I’ve been in front of my TV for 2+ hours. I enjoyed it over all and liked digging into the alternate paths! Very meta, an ambitious/clever Netflix experience and worth checking out. But you know, steel yourself. It’s Black Mirror after all. pic.twitter.com/9qyunU9naU

#Bandersnatch is probably one of the most intriguing and ambitious pieces ever released on @netflix. I had a blast exploring this story with my daughter and I really hope more titles like this are released in the future. Brilliant piece of work! pic.twitter.com/GkiFVrJ1Bp

Just watched my friend go through #Bandersnatch and saw a completely different narrative. One that was completely nuts. And had Netflix in the plot?! Bizarre! This film is fucking great!

Not everyone’s a big fan though.
black mirror: bandersnatch 0/5 stars… really pointless and kinda boring. there’s no endgame? no goal? it’s just. choose this…. then not really much of anything. super interesting concept but poorly executed due to lame fucking plot @netflix sorry but it’s a flop 🤷🏾♂️

At the time of writing, the film’s got a 90 per cent fresh rating approval on Rotten Tomatoes. Then there’s the 204 audience reviews, most favourable, with the approval rating sitting at an impressive 88 per cent. A scan of the reviews make it seem like you’ll either aggressively hate it or love it.

Choices aren’t just super serious ones either. Your first choice is to choose a brand of cereal.
