Not one to do things by halves, elusive British street and performance artist Banksy has revealed what could well be his magnum opus overnight, as the first images of a parody exhibition and functioning “Bemusment Park” have been released.
Located at the derelict lido site Tropicana in North Somerset, ‘Dismaland’ is Banksy’s boldest and largest work to date – as a take on Disneyland is transformed to bleak new heights, complete with apathetic workers with “DISMAL” high-vis jackets, live shows by Run The Jewels, crumbling rides, and works from the cutting-edge artistic elite: the ever-controversial Damien Hirst will feature alongside Australian street artist LUSH, as well as Pure Evil, Josh Keyes – among dozens more.
“A dead princess is only complete when surrounded by gawping crowds with their cameras out, or the opportunity to photograph yourself pulling an amazed expression when a killer whale leaps from a toilet,” Banksy said of the exhibition, according to the BBC.
Dismaland will be operational from tomorrow until September 22 – entry via pre-booked tickets.
