Y’all Are Gaggin’ So Hard For US Netflix That 48% Of You Would Pay More

We all know digital piracy is a big ol’ problem that the world is trying to fix, but so far it’s just a giant game of The Pirate Bay whack-a-mole. One site host gets ditched and another will pop up within days to fill the void.

But one of the main drivers of piracy isn’t usually the price of the content, it’s the lack of availability in the region, which could be fixed by just letting us pay for it. Phillip J Fry sums this up quite nicely.
Yup.

And results from a recent survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of comparison website Comparitech support Mr. Fry’s sentiment, finding that 48 percent of non-US respondents using Netflix would happily pay extra to access premium US content.
Furthermore, 43 percent of respondents think that it’s wrong of Netflix to try and ban those who use a VPN to access geo-blocked content in their area.
The company have been attempting to ban VPN access since January, but much like piracy, you knock down one cheeky avenue and they’ll just find another one tomorrow. That’s what happens when you deny the people what they want, you MONSTERS.
Unfortunately for us plebs, Netflix will likely focus on their own exclusive content such as Orange is the New Black or Stranger Things rather than secure existing US content. But given how fricken good both of those series are, perhaps that’s actually a good thing.
Until then, the streaming service could be sitting on a goldmine if it decides to charge extra to allow non-US users to stream US content. WE WANNA PAY DAMMIT. LET US PAY.
