Twitter Rolls Out New Features To Lay The Banhammer On Abusive Users

Despite their struggles, the Twitter realm is still happily ticking over each day, but like any social media platform, it’s certainly no stranger to abuse.

Luckily, Donal Trump‘s favourite pastime is about to become a whole lot nicer as the company begins to roll out three new features that will minimise harassment and abuse by the shitlords of the internet.
Firstly, Twitter are working to identify the people that create abusive accounts to stop them from creating more. By identifying those who have been permanently banned for shitty behaviour, the platform hope to prevent them from creating new accounts altogether.
Just how they’ll go about this is uncertain, as simply banning an individuals IP address is only going to work until they pick up their phone and create a new account through there. Whatever witchcraft they use, we’re all for it.
Next up, they’re working on a ‘safe search’ feature that will omit gnarly Tweets that contain sensitive content, as well as those from blocked and muted accounts. You’ll still be able to find this stuff if you want to, it just won’t be stinking up your search results by default.
Lastly, abusive and low-quality replies will be identified and collapsed so that only the most relevant aspects of a conversation are prioritised. Again, you’ll still be able to see these if you really want to.
Here’s to a cleaner, nicer and overall more pleasant Twitter environment.
