‘PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ Sells 10M Copies, Still Isn’t Even Finished

For a game that isn’t even finished yet, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds sure is a roaring bloody success. The title has now sold an incredible 10 million copies since its early access launch in March of this year.

Let’s put that into perspective for a moment. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of 2017’s top-selling games and is estimated to have moved around 4.4 million copies across both the Wii U and Nintendo Switch. Right now, PUBG is only available on one platform – PC.

According to video game industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, this makes the online shooter the best-selling single-platform game of the year so far.

Folks are playing the game a lot, too. Last month it briefly overtook Valve‘s Dota 2 as having the most concurrent players on Steam. Insanity.

With PUBG scheduled to launch on Xbox One at some point this spring, the number of sales will grow even further.

Taking place entirely online, the game chucks 100 players into a massive map where they must scavenge for weapons and supplies to survive the longest. To keep things moving, the play area will continuously shrink, forcing folks to keep moving into an increasingly smaller area.

It’s insanely addictive and I have to admit, I haven’t been playing much else for the past few months. There’s nothing more delicious than getting that tasty chicken dinner.

See you in Pochinki, suckers.
