‘Sketches of Bacon’ Art Exhibition On Tonight

The abstracted figures, heads and triptychs made famous by British painter Francis Bacon have been re-imagined by an array of young artists for a one-night-only exhibition to be held at the Paramount Building in Surry Hills tonight.
‘Sketches of Bacon’ is a multimedia response project that will bring together practitioners from the worlds of music, art, photography and architecture to reinterpret the work and spirit of the late Francis Bacon.
The exhibition follows on from the ‘Francis Bacon: Five Decades’ retrospective that has been showing at the Art Gallery of New South Wales since November and has even been compiled into an ebook designed for your take-home pleasure.
Kick-ons will be held at the Flinders Hotel where Nicky Nightmare (Van She), Gus (Motorik), Vlada and Beach Master will be playing some brooding dark techno to honor the ‘master of darkness’ that was Bacon.
Where: The Former Paramount Pictures Building – 78-80 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills
When: Thursday, 28th February 2012 from 6-8pm
