This Shipping Container House Right Near Joshua Tree National Park Is Goals

If you’ve never been to Joshua Tree National Park in Southern Cali – about a three-hour drive from La La Land – you really should get your cute butt there, asap.

For peeps who like hiking, rock climbing, camping, stargazing or taking selfies in front of amazing rust-coloured boulders, it’s the ultimate pitstop. For those more fortunate than we, it can actually be home.

A movie producer and his wife, who live in LA, have commissioned a has-to-be-seen-to-be-believed house on a 90-acre block just outside the wilderness preserve, after falling in love with the area on a trip to Joshua Tree earlier this year.

Nicknamed the Joshua Tree Residence, the solar-powered beauty will actually be made up of white shipping containers that pop like nothing else against the red n’ rocky backdrop.

Once complete, it’ll feature three bedrooms – concrete floors, white walls, yummmm – a massive living room, kitchen, dining area and sprawling wooden deck that’s at one with the rocky hillside.

The best bit? A hot tub, tucked away for maximum privacy and shelter from the desert’s chilly evening winds.

“Each container is orientated to maximise views across the landscape, or to use the topography to provide privacy, depending on their individual use,” says its London-based designer James Whitaker.

Check out these photo-realistic renderings of what it’ll look like:

And get this: it’ll be a holiday home, not a full-time residence. The good news is that might mean you get the chance to rent it on Airbnb in the future.

We can dream, right desert rats?
