Aussie Designer’s Site Crashes After Meghan Markle Steps Out In Their Dress

For her first official engagement in Australia as a bloody ~PRINCESS~ Meghan Markle stepped out in a dress by Australian designer, Karen Gee, as Sydney Morning Herald writes. And because people love love love to dress up like royalty, even when the likelihood that they’ll bag a Prince Harry of their own is pretty dang slim, Karen Gee’s website crashed real hard at 9am this morning when the first royal pics came out.

Markle was photographed out by the Governor-General‘s dope pad (politics fact: the GG, the Queen‘s rep in Australia, is currently Sir Peter Cosgrove) in Kirribilli today in the $1800 ‘Blessed’ dress by the Sydney-based brand. Seems a pretty apt choice considering the big news yesterday that Markle is up the duff with a little bb prince or princess of her own. A little cluster of blessed royal cells.

Here’s the dress, which comes in ink navy, black and ivory.

The website describes the dress as follows: “Crafted in our premium fabric, the Blessed Dress features a simple, structured fit designed to contour the body for a sleek silhouette. A timeless classic that will take you from day to night with ease.

Gee told SMH that she feels pretty bloody proud, “particularly because I am not a world-recognised brand“.

That’s how the brand was founded – that women should all feel special and confident, and Meghan believes in that and [she] is beautiful.

I am so proud. It’s great that she’s wearing it but [I’d be] just as proud of any woman [wearing my design]. It’s quite surreal, obviously she’s had a lot of pieces to choose from. Our brand is simple and elegant but our brand is very suited to her style.

The designer, Harvard graduate (fancy) and mother of five, was apparently in cahoots with the Royals re: Markle’s fashurrrrn, sending over a few pieces for consideration. But she did sign a confidentiality agreement, so she can’t reveal much more than that.

The brand is certainly a fan of Markle, posting pictures of the new Duchess of Sussex on her wedding day back in May.

In case you’ve got some free time this arvo, you can cop a squiz of Markle and Haz at the Opera House, where they’ll be meeting performers from Indigenous dance company, Bangarra.

And earlier today the royal couple met a koala at Taronga Zoo! Fun! Cosgrove also gifted ’em with a pair of baby Uggs and a toy kangaroo for their royal bairn.

What a blessed day.
