Karl Lagerfeld Needs To Stop Making Films

No offence to Karl Lagerfeld the designer, but Karl Lagerfeld the filmmaker is pretty umm…terrible? Case in point is “Remember Now” a cumbersome Lagerfeld-directed short that serves as the audio/visual companion to Chanel’s 2010/2011 Cruise collection.

It’s slightly better than his previous efforts but there’s still plenty of cringey model moments – especially when they try to act or deliver dialogue. Having said that all seventeen minutes are beautifully shot and worth a look for the clothes, models and picturesque surrounds alone. What else? Baptiste Giabiconi gets his shirt off, Leigh Lezark channels Coco Chanel, Abbey Lee Kershaw speaks French in a see-through dress and Lagerfeld himself cameos as an all-white apparition toward the end. As I said it’s all beautiful stuff. Maybe just watch it with the sound down?
