John Galliano Fired By Christian Dior

The video of John Galliano saying the words “I love Hitler” has resulted in the designer getting fired by French fashion house Christian Dior, for whom he has been creative director since 1996. Most of the time saying “I love Hitler” gets you fired from life.

Dior’s president and CEO Sidney Toledano said, “I condemn most firmly the statements made by John Galliano which are a total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the House of Christian Dior.”

“Today, because of the particularly odious nature of the behavior and words of John Galliano in a video made public this Monday, the Christian Dior house has decided to lay him off immediately and has begun firing procedures against him.”

Dior spokesperson and heavenly dreamgirl Natalie Portman, who is Jewish, has also condemned Galliano’s words in a statement saying, “I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today.”

“In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”

Ergo he is the opposite of you, Portman.

Of course, John Galliano is now going to rehab, which is the Celebrity Charades version of righting your public relations wrongs. Sorry John but no amount of cleansing and group therapy is going to un-say candid camera Hitler love.

Speculation is rife as to who will be the designer to replace Galliano. My top guesses are Thakoon Panichgul or Gareth Pugh. Fashion followers, I’d love to hear your suggestions.
