Isabella Blow’s Couture Goes To Auction

If anyone out there has several million dollars and a fondness for couture and bespoke head wear (i.e. your name is Lady Gaga), this is the moment you’ve been waiting for: the couture collection of the late Isabella Blow is going under the hammer on 15 September, which includes over 90 Alexander McQueen outfits (she was credited with “discovering” the designer after buying his entire graduate collection), 50 hats by milliner Philip Treacy (Blow was his longtime muse) and shoes by Manolo Blahnik.

Isabella Blow is one of the true style icons – describing her own aesthetic as ‘chic pornography’, and in an interview explained the practical reason behind constantly wearing her famous Philip Treacy creations: “…to keep everyone away from me. They say, Oh, can I kiss you? I say, No, thank you very much. That’s why I’ve worn the hat. Goodbye. I don’t want to be kissed by all and sundry. I want to be kissed by the people I love.” She was ridiculously cool.
