Friend Of Mine SS2012 Lookbook “The Charmers”

Friend of Mine‘s SS12 collection, The Charmers, is a reason to get through winter. If it’s anything to go by, there’s teensy tiny shorts, see-through shirts and lots of leather waiting for us on the other side. Inspired by lovers Mick Jagger and Anita Pallenberg in 1970 gangster film Performance, the collection has a bohemian, slightly smutty rock and roll leaning. The garments have been designed specifically to make rockstars fall in love with the wearer, involving the potential dedication of songs and bath tubs filled with Moet.

Shot by Sydney-based fashion photographer Byron Spencer, it seems him and model Rachel Rutt make quite the dream team, first with their work for designer Emma Mulholland and now this. A plain white background and the serene-looking Rutt adds an interesting, almost matronly juxtaposition to clothes which could induce your grandmother to spit out her tea. This summer we say throw on some snakeskin hot pants, a low slung belt and carry a hip flask at all times.
