With every collection produced by Vanishing Elephant I’m immediately reminded of the Old Spice Guy ads where that guy in a towel talks about ‘the man your man could smell like’, but in this context it’s more a case of the sartorially aspirational idea of ‘the man your man could dress like’. The Vanishing Elephant man looks damn good.
For the Spring/Summer 2012 collection, the trio behind the label, Huw Bennett, Felix Chan and Arran Russell, give a little insight into where exactly the VE man is currently located in his own evolution of style:
“This season our man has moved to a more experimental phase of dressing,” they explain. “He has an understanding of his style but wants to continue the development, by matching suits back with rugby jersey, lighter fuller-fitting pants with neat shirts and light, neat knitwear worn single layer as a comfort piece.”
Vanishing Elephant Spring 2012 Menswear will start to drop in late July in Vanishing Elephant’s Melbourne store, their website , Incu and General Pants stores nationwide.
And girls, don’t forget there’s Vanishing Elephant Women’s available now too.
