Dolce & Gabbana Love Gail Sorronda

Here at Pedestrian, we’re in absolute lust with the striking designs of local style maven Gail Sorronda (interview here). And in yesterday’s Wall Street Journal, it was revealed that vivacious designers Dolce and Gabbana share a similar sentiment. In plans to open a new store in Milan, Dolce & Gabbana Spiga2, the dynamic duo have decided to stock select pieces from talented young designers around the world. Stefano Gabbana said rather modestly in a phone interview: “We are big. We’re good. We’re Dolce & Gabbana. Why not give someone new a chance?”.

Much to our delight, the pair have chosen Sorronda as one such lucky designer. After months of trawling through look-books, the pair decided to give back the ‘help’ that they too were given in their early days. And what a big help it is. The Wall Street Journal quoted Mr Gabbana as saying “I love Gail Sorronda. It’s my taste.” The store will be located on the corner of two of Milan’s main luxury shopping streets, the Via Della Spiga and Via Venezia. Gail will also show her wares at Milan Fashion Week as the only Aussie finalist in Vogue Italia’s Who’s on Next series. Busy, busy times ahead. Onwards and upwards Miss Sorronda.
