Delta Goodrem Covers Kirstie Clements’ Final Vogue Issue

The swansong of recently relieved Vogue Australia editor, Kirstie Clements, will be the magazine’s July issue featuring “Australian sweetheart” and The Voice judge Delta Goodrem on its cover.

The shoot, styled by Vogue‘s Fashion Editor Ilona Hamer and photographed by Nicole Bentley, aimed to expose a different side of Goodrem. The magazine’s Features Director Alexandra Spring explains, “It would be fair to say that viewers are seeing a different side to Our Delta. We wanted to show her a little more raw and sensual; to let her natural beauty shine through. Gone is the shy, demure teen, behold a feistier and unashamedly ambitious Goodrem, who wants to win”.

You can take a look at the preview images below and there’s no arguing that Delta looks very pretty in the photographs, however the styling and direction of the shoot aren’t hugely compelling. The all-black outfits, the disconnect between Delta and camera, the opulent setting… There’s something a little too overtly ‘mature’ and staged about it to successfully “let her natural beauty shine through”. Having said that I’ll bet that the issue is a runaway bestseller.

The July issue of Vogue Australia is on sale Wednesday 6 June. Take a look…
