Charities Confirm They Have 1st Instalment Of Heard’s Divorce $ From Depp

The two domestic violence charities Amber Heard is donating her divorce settlement money to have both confirmed that they have indeed received a first payment from Johnny Depp.
The actress, who had accused Depp of domestic violence and abuse before filing for divorce, decided to give her entire $7 million USD (approximately $9 million AUD) to two charities that support victims of domestic violence.
She agreed to split her settlement evenly between the two, giving $3.5 million to the division of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) that focuses on ending domestic violence, and $3.5 million to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles
Neither charity would say how much they had been given, but confirmed they received a ‘first instalment’ on Wednesday.
Depp has been publicly praising his ex-wife for donating the money, saying,
“Following Amber Heard‘s announcement that her divorce settlement was to be divided equally and gifted to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union, two exceptionally deserving and important charities, Johnny Depp has sent the first of multiple instalments of those monies to each charity in the name of Amber Heard, which when completed will honour the full amount of Ms. Heard’s pledge.

Ms. Heard’s generosity in giving to these wonderful causes is deeply respected.”
It isn’t explained why Depp, who has a net worth of approximately $400 million, is paying in instalments – but Heard’s team don’t seem overly impressed.
A spokesperson for Heard told E! News that the actress “appreciates Johnny Depp‘s novel interest in supporting two of her favourite charities”.
BUUUUUUUUUUUT…
“However, if Johnny wishes to change the settlement agreement, we must insist that he honour the full amount by donating $14M to charity, which, after accounting for his tax deduction, is equal to his $7M payment obligation to Amber. We would also insist that the full amount be paid immediately and not drawn out over many years.

Anything less would be a transparent attempt by Johnny’s counsel, Laura Wasser and Patti Glaser, to reduce their client’s true payment by half under the guise of newfound concern for charities that he has never previously supported.”
