camilla and marc AW2012

‘AW2012?’ I hear you say, ‘Doesn’t that stand for Autumn slash Winter of the year two thousand and twelve? Aren’t we only just tentatively emerging from that same mercilessly cold, unbearably long season? Didn’t you write something about camilla and marc swimwear only recently?’ All valid questions, and fortunately for you, the answer is a resounding ‘Yes’.

Yes, we may be striding forward into the much-awaited SS2011/12 season, but that doesn’t mean one cannot gaze into the Swarovski crystal balls of fashion (read: Lookbooks) for a glimpse into what one will be wearing in six months time. At least this way you can budget/eat accordingly, and how often does that happen, ladies?

I digress. camilla and marc (lower case intentional) have also done a little gazing – albeit into the past – for their Autumn Winter collection. Dubbed ‘Paperback Lovers,’ the sibling duo have drawn inspiration from 1960s style icons Ali MacGraw (aka Mrs Steve McQueen) and Charlotte Rampling for their forward-looking throwback offering. The collection draws on a number of sixties silhouettes and reinterprets them in contemporary cuts and fabrics, including wide-legged pants in black and printed chiffon paired with a cut-out detail leather jacket or a two-tone sheer number; sheer shirting and elongated tuxedo coats sit alongside low-rise denim; and the staples of modern tailoring receive fresh treatment in a vibrant floral print or a colour that I’m going to dub salmon hors d’oeuvre and/or apricot mousse.

There’s also a turtleneck sweater, a military coat, some fur lapels, and a bevy of dresses in a length that you would be apt to call ‘mod’ in length. Groovy.
