Awks: The MP Behind The Fucked-Up Census Had His Personal Site Hacked Too

And now, we cross live to the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ control room for the latest on last night’s census fustercluck:

Elsewhere, the dumpster fire motif has also been mirrored by the personal website of Michael McCormack, the minister in charge of overseeing this whole deal. After directly refuting the ABS’ own claims that the census site was hacked, it appears McCormack’s personal site has been.

As highlighted by ABC journo Jessica Haynes, the Nationals MP’s site michaelmccormack.com.au did indeed fall victim to some digital ne’er-do-well. Once the uninvited guests gained access to the inner workings of the site, they pulled off the most heinous of attacks:

Dastardly.

In response to that interruption, the site has been, uh, taken “down for maintenance.”

While we can all hope that juvenile BS is the full extent of the attack, it’s probably just as well the minister’s site has been quarantined, just so his team can make sure all of that data and personal information is safe and secure… Much in the same way we can only hope everyone else’s is.

While it certainly appears the census site was hit by nothing more than an organic DDoS, somebody’s info has to be totally impervious to cyber attacks, right?
